Review from Rachel Ellis Nov 2019
“I recently completed The Cutting Garden 10 week course at the Academy, which has been incredible. The tutor was so knowledgeable, delivering a mixture of theory and practical sessions, enabling us to learn everything we need to know to get our own cutting gardens going at home. We spent time in both the academy cutting garden, as well as a working garden on a Devon estate, seeing horticulture in action, and gaining valuable skills. I’ve left the course feeling like I have not only learnt new skills and absorbed so much knowledge, but also with a sense that I am now part of the ‘Academy Family’, who I know will support me as I carry on my learning with them in the future. Thank you.”
This course will allow you to fill your garden with flowers and foliages that can be used to enhance your floristry or decorate your home. It is suitable for anyone interested in learning how to plant, grow and cut flowers in their garden.
We have combined our vast experience of floristry with a horticulture expert to create a practical hand-on cutting course suitable for florists, flower arrangers or anyone wishing the learn how to plant up a garden with flowers. The course complements our floristry course or can be a stand-alone course. Not only will you learn how to plant and cut the flowers you will be given a chance to create floral designs with the seasonal flowers, that can be used to promote your business or decorate your home.
Throughout the course you will harvest the current season and plant for the next season; learn how to make floral designs with your harvested flowers. You will learn what to plant and when so that you can create a flower arrangement from scratch from the spoils of your garden.
The classes will be held at Dunchideock and will be hands-on, with lessons in the classroom and our cutting area.
The cost includes all materials, plants and flowers for the whole course. Plus use of tools and equipment.
What the course covers over the ten weeks:
