Show Season 2017 Part One: RHS Malvern Spring Festival
The Academy of Floral Art to help create 7.5m Floral Fountain centerpiece by Jonathan Moseley at the RHS Malvern Spring Festival:
- Jonathan Moseley to work with the Academy of Floral Art on exclusive show feature
- 14 students and tutors from the Academy of Floral Art to support build over 2 days
- The Floral Fountain is a major focal point of the RHS Malvern Spring Festival
The 2017 Flower Show season begins in style for the Academy of Floral Art this week as they head to the RHS Malvern Spring Festival. Fourteen Academy students and tutors are travelling from Devon, Cornwall, Wales and Wiltshire to be on site over two days to help the renowned florist and presenter, Jonathan Moseley, create his ambitious 7.5 metre tall Floral Fountain display, the centrepiece for the new Shopping Arcades that are launching at this year’s festival.
The Floral Fountain is inspired by the show’s spa theme, which celebrates Malvern’s heyday as one of England’s finest spa resorts. Jonathan’s modern take on the Victorian park fountain will use over 25 000 cut flowers and foliages and 500 glass droplets and is set to be a spectacular, towering feature of the show.
“I was keen to involve the Academy of Floral Art in creating this project,” said Jonathan Moseley. “They have an excellent reputation – and deservedly so. It’s great that the Academy works with designers to give unique opportunities for their students to work on bespoke, cutting edge projects, which will open doors for their future careers.”
“We’re delighted to be collaborating with Jonathan Moseley at Malvern again this year,” said Julie Collins, Principal of the Academy of Floral Art. “Jonathan is very encouraging of new talent, and we love to find exciting, live projects that give Academy students the chance to put their technical training into practice, and develop their work portfolios.”
The show opens from 11 – 16 May
